The KTM 390 Duke now costs Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom), after a sharp Rs 40,000 increase. This jump comes after the government imposed a 40% tax on bikes above 350cc.
Earlier, KTM absorbed the extra cost to protect buyers. However, the company has now passed the burden to customers. As a result, the on-road price has crossed Rs 4 lakh and reached about Rs 4.07 lakh.

Buyers who have already booked the bike must pay the updated price during delivery. This change may surprise many customers who expected the earlier pricing.
The 390 Duke remains a powerful streetfighter with strong performance and aggressive styling. However, the higher price may push some buyers to consider alternatives.

In addition, the KTM 390 Adventure X has also become more expensive. KTM increased its price by Rs 17,000.
The bike now costs Rs 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, it was priced at Rs 3.26 lakh. This update makes it costlier than its close rival, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
For comparison, the Himalayan 450 starts at around Rs 3.05 lakh. Therefore, price-sensitive buyers may now look more closely at Royal Enfield’s offering. However, the Adventure X still offers modern features and a capable touring setup.
Shift Towards 350cc Engines Could Change KTM’s Lineup
Perhaps the biggest reason behind these price changes is KTM’s future strategy. The company plans to introduce new 350cc models soon.
Under the updated GST rules, bikes below 350cc attract only 18 percent tax. This creates a big price advantage for smaller engines.
Because of this, KTM may reduce engine sizes in its upcoming lineup. The new 350cc Duke could offer lower pricing but slightly reduced power.
Meanwhile, brands like Triumph Motorcycles have already moved in this direction. Triumph recently adjusted its lineup to fit the new tax structure.
