Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. has brought back a legend with a modern twist. The new Kinetic DX electric scooter has been launched in India at Rs 1.11 lakh for the base DX variant, while the top-spec DX+ costs Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). Inspired by the iconic Kinetic Honda DX from the 80s and 90s, this new model mixes nostalgia with cutting-edge EV tech and features designed for today’s riders.

The design of the Kinetic DX is a tribute to the original Honda DX scooter. It keeps the boxy silhouette and adds modern touches like a full-LED headlamp and LED DRLs shaped like the Kinetic logo. The small visor with the Kinetic badge is a sweet throwback. There’s also an 8.8-inch LCD screen that mimics the old cluster's layout but looks fresh and techy.
The DX has a strong metal body, a large 37-litre under-seat storage space, and a spacious floorboard. It gets chunky 12-inch wheels, a 704mm seat height, and 165mm ground clearance, which makes it suitable for everyday Indian roads. Moreover, there’s a bright red "READY" button on the switchgear that adds a fun retro feel, while the Easy Flip function opens pillion footpegs at the push of a button.
The electric scooter has a 2.6kWh LFP battery pack, which powers a 4.8kW hub-mounted motor. The DX+ variant delivers an IDC range of 116km and a top speed of 90kmph. The standard DX variant offers a 102km range and 80kmph top speed. You can choose between three ride modes: Range, Power, and Turbo.
There’s also a cruise control feature and a reverse mode for easier parking. If you ride at 25-30kmph on flat roads using cruise lock, Kinetic claims the scooter can go up to 150km on a single charge.
The battery is made by Range-X and is said to last four times longer than typical NMC battery units. Charging from 0 to 50% takes 2 hours, while a full charge takes around 4 hours. The Easy Charge system stores the integrated charger inside the glovebox with a 15A plug for added convenience.
Both DX and DX+ scooters come with modern tech like Bluetooth, a keyless start system, music playback, and voice navigation through built-in speakers. The DX+ variant also includes the Telekinetic system that offers GPS tracking, geo-fencing, vehicle stats, “Find My Kinetic,” OTA updates, and more.
There’s even a helpline call button on the handlebar and a unique feature that wishes you a happy birthday in 16 languages.
The Kinetic DX is available in Black and Silver, while the DX+ comes in five colours, including Red, Blue, Black, White, and Silver. Bookings are now open on the Kinetic EV website for just Rs 1000, but are limited to 35,000–40,000 units initially. Deliveries are expected to begin in September 2025.
