Kawasaki Is All Set To Re-Launch Its ZX-6R With New Upgrades

A month ago, we brought you an exciting news of Kawasaki bringing back the popular Ninja ZX-6R, and now the news is official. The company is all geared-up to relaunch the model with an array of upgrades. The most interesting part, however, is the 600cc engine which will now be Euro 5 compliant.

Upgrades & Modifications of Kawasaki ZX-6R

One of the most significant upgrades in the upcoming 2023 iteration of Kawasaki ZX-6R is its entirely new frontal design. The new design upgrade include an LED headlamp, along with a new windscreen, giving the bike a sharp and aggressive look. Additionally, the company has swapped the previous side panelling with the new subtle winglets, reminiscent of the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.

Additionally, the incorporation of the new 4.3-inch TFT display with Bluetooth capability is another substantial change in the model. Finally, the brand has swapped the petal discs with the round units on the new ZX-6R model. The rest of the bike, including the taillight & back end remains unaltered.

Features & Specifications of Kawasaki ZX-6R

Speaking of features, the new 6R comes with 3-degrees of traction control3-power settings, and 3-riding modes. The new TFT display also includes an ECO riding indication, though a bike like this, we highly doubt anyone would be using this. Additionally, a quickshifter is included in the 6R, there is no mention of a bi-directional system. The 6R will probably continue to be an upshift-only machine since it still has a cable-controlled throttle.

The bike will be powered by a 636cc 4-cylinder screamer engine with a seductive redline of 16,000 rpm. The bike has lost a bit of power & torque as a result of the main modifications made to fulfil emissions standards. Comparatively, the peak power on the new bike has reduced by 1 bhp to 129bhp, while peak torque falls from 70.8 Nm to 69 Nm

Expected Price & Rivals of Kawasaki ZX-6R

In India, the Triumph Street Triple RS will be the closest competitor to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R in terms of specs & price. The Triumph has a slight advantage in weight (188 kg vs 198 kg) & power (130 hp). The Kawasaki can rev up to 4,000 rpm higher than the Striple, but the Kawasaki has a whole lot more torque (80Nm), thus the riding experience will be very different.

When it was taken off sale, the original ZX6R was listed for just under Rs 11 Lakhs. However, on the return, the price is expected to range between Rs. 11.50 Lakhs - Rs. 12 Lakhs. The bike is anticipated to be introduced by the end of 2023 in India.
