Italian motorcycle brand Ducati has introduced the new Formula 73, a limited edition café racer inspired by its racing legacy. The motorcycle draws strong inspiration from the iconic Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo that secured victory at the 1972 Imola 200. Therefore, this new model connects Ducati’s past achievements with present day performance technology. Moreover, production will be limited to just 873 numbered units worldwide for collectors.

The Formula 73 carries a café racer design finished in silver and aqua green shades. In addition, a gold vertical stripe on the fuel tank recalls the original race bike’s fuel indicator detail. Clip on handlebars and bar end mirrors enhance its sporty riding posture. Moreover, a small front fairing & trimmed rear section complete the classic racing look. Spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres further highlight its vintage character. However, the trellis frame keeps Ducati’s signature design language clearly visible.

The motorcycle is powered by an 803cc air cooled Desmodue L-twin engine producing 73 bhp at 8,250rpm. In addition, it develops 65.2Nm of torque at 7,000rpm for smooth mid range strength. Ducati has equipped the bike with a Termignoni exhaust system for a sharper sound note. Hence, the Formula 73 promises an engaging riding feel alongside its heritage styling.
Despite its retro design theme, the Formula 73 includes modern electronic rider aids. It features cornering ABS and traction control for added safety. Moreover, Ducati Quick Shift enables clutchless upshifts & downshifts during rides. The two riding modes allow riders to adjust the bike’s response as needed. In addition to that, full LED lighting and a TFT display bring contemporary functionality. Each unit will also include a certificate of authenticity and exclusive packaging with design sketches from Ducati’s Style Centre.
