Bajaj’s 200 CC Bikes Competition: Pulsar NS 200 Vs TVS Apache RTR 200 4V

Bajaj recently released the BS6 version of its 200cc street bike, the Pulsar NS200. They changed only the engine. But its competitor, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, got a big update last year. Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 mark aggressive and sporty designs. These bikes feature low-slung headlamps, sculpted fuel tanks, sharp extensions, and sleek tail sections. However, the NS200's design has remained largely unchanged since its introduction. The NS200's design feels old-fashioned compared to the Apache's more modern look, especially since the Apache got a bold front design last year.
 

The Apache has a full-LED headlamp, an LED tail lamp, and an LCD instrument cluster displaying various information. Additionally, it offers Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone pairing. Moreover, the company has introduced Glide Through Technology (GTT), aiding slow-speed riding through traffic with the BS6 update. In contrast, the Pulsar NS200 sticks with a conventional headlamp and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 has a 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine, while the Apache RTR 200 4V has a slightly larger 197.75cc air-cooled engine. Moreover, the NS 200 bike offers more power by generating 24.13 bhp @ 9750 rpm and 18.74 Nm torque. On the contrary, the Apache RTR produces 17.25 Nm of torque and 20.54 bhp @ 9000 rpm.

Both bikes share some common hardware features. They ride on 17-inch wheels and have rear monoshock suspension and front telescopic forks. However, they differ in their chassis design, with the Pulsar featuring a perimeter frame and the Apache having a double cradle chassis. This gives the Pulsar a slight advantage in handling.
 

Bajaj Pulsar and TVS Apache bikes have disc brakes on both wheels. However, the Apache is safer because it has dual-channel ABS, while the Pulsar only has single-channel ABS. They also have the same 12-litre fuel tank capacity.

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V comes at a price starting at Rs 1.25 lakh, while the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is slightly lower at Rs 1.24 lakh. The NS200 is still a great deal, while those looking for a more modern design and features might prefer the Apache.
