Ather Energy, a leading premium electric scooter brand, has revealed its new EL platform. This will power a range of affordable scooters in the coming years. The company plans to launch the first scooter on this platform during the festival season of 2026. This new scooter will be manufactured at Ather’s upcoming facility in Aurangabad.

According to Ather’s Chief Business Officer, Ravneet Phokela, the company is focusing on expanding its brand reach before introducing new products. He explained that Ather does not need to launch a new scooter every year just to grow. Instead, the company wants to strengthen its network and product experience.
At present, Ather has 446 retail stores across India and aims to increase this number to 700 outlets by the end of the year. Co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta also mentioned that Ather is already the top brand in South India, and the next goal is to expand across northern and central markets.
The newly introduced EL platform is versatile and scalable. It can support different types of scooters from commuter and family models to high-performance ones. The platform allows flexibility in battery sizes, wheel dimensions, and dashboard designs.
Currently, Ather offers 4 electric scooters:
These models are priced above Rs 1.1 lakh and come with different battery options. Rizta has already become popular, helping Ather nearly double its market share to 14% in the first quarter of this financial year.
Meanwhile, the competition in India’s electric two-wheeler market is growing quickly. Bajaj Auto is preparing an entry-level Chetak, while Ola Electric is working on a cheaper scooter for the gig economy.
