Centre Unveils PM RAHAT Scheme Offering 1.5 Lakh Cashless Treatment for Crash Victims

The Government of India has launched the PM RAHAT road safety scheme nationwide. The programme promises faster hospital admission for people injured in road accidents. Each eligible victim can receive cashless treatment worth up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This coverage remains valid for seven days after the accident.

The scheme also supports bystanders who help injured victims. These helpers receive the title “Rah-Veer” under the programme. This recognition aims to reduce fear of legal trouble. The programme links hospital, police, and insurance data through one digital network. Hospitals receive payments from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund after approval. Insurance pays in insured cases, while the government covers hit-and-run incidents. Authorities aim to settle claims within ten days, encouraging wider hospital participation.
