Ather Energy has teased its upcoming Ather EL01 based electric scooter ahead of its India launch on August 29, 2026, at Ather Community Day. The new family focused electric scooter will be the first production model based on the company's new EL platform.
It aims to offer a more affordable option than the Ather 450X, 450S, and Rizta. It may help the brand reach more buyers in India's fast growing electric scooter market.

The teaser confirms that the production scooter closely follows the EL01 concept shown last year. It features a clean family scooter design with an apron mounted LED headlamp, a long seat, and a spacious floorboard. Spy shots also suggest a 14 inch front wheel, a 12 inch rear wheel, a front disc brake, and a rear drum brake. These changes should improve ride comfort and everyday practicality.

The new EL platform supports battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh, allowing Ather to develop multiple scooters on the same architecture. The platform also uses a steel unibody frame, a swingarm mounted motor, and a simplified electrical layout aimed at reducing manufacturing costs.
The production model is expected to offer a 7 inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, although features may vary by variant.
The upcoming scooter could become Ather's most affordable electric model, with an expected price between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex showroom). A Battery as a Service option could reduce the upfront cost further. Buyers looking at the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 X, and Vida V2 may find this new model good value for money. Lower pricing and family friendly packaging could make it attractive for daily commuting.
Once launched, this electric scooter could make electric mobility more affordable for Indian buyers while expanding the brand's lineup.
