Bajaj Auto has launched the 2026 Dominar 400 in India with a revised engine setup. The motorcycle now comes with a smaller 349cc engine instead of the earlier 373cc unit. It is priced at Rs. 2.03 lakh, ex-showroom, which makes it more affordable. In fact, the new model costs around Rs. 37,000 less than before.
This change mainly helps the bike fall under the lower 18% GST category. Earlier, it attracted a higher 40% tax due to bigger engine size. Perhaps this move will make the Dominar more attractive to budget-conscious buyers.

The new engine now displaces 349.13cc with a revised stroke length. Bajaj reduced the stroke from 60mm to 56.1mm while keeping the bore same. In addition, the power output has slightly increased to 40.04bhp. However, the peak power now comes at a higher 9,000 rpm.
Torque has reduced slightly to 33.2Nm, which is 1.8Nm lower than before. It also arrives earlier in the rev range at 7,500 rpm. Perhaps riders may notice a different power delivery compared to the older model. However, the overall performance remains strong for touring and daily riding.

The 2026 Dominar 400 looks mostly similar to the outgoing version. It continues with its muscular design and strong road presence. In addition, it uses the same perimeter frame for better stability. The bike rides on 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels at both ends.
The suspension of the motorcycle is handled by USD forks at the front. There’s also a rear monoshock setup that supports the bike at the back. However, braking remains unchanged with disc brakes on both wheels. Dual-channel ABS continues as a standard safety feature.
The fuel tank capacity stays the same at 13 litres. However, the kerb weight has reduced by around 3 kg. The bike now weighs 190 kg, which may improve handling slightly. Perhaps this small change will help in better city manoeuvring. In addition, Bajaj offers the bike in two colour options. These include a classic black and a green shade. Overall, the update focuses more on pricing and practicality.
