TVS Motor Company’s flagship electric scooter, the iQube, has achieved a remarkable milestone by crossing 700,000 units in domestic wholesales. By the end of September 2025, total factory dispatches had reached over 718,824 units since the model’s launch in January 2020.
What stands out even more is the pace of growth. While the scooter took 52 months to reach its first 300,000 units, the next 400,000 units were sold in just 17 months, showing how quickly demand has risen.
Several reasons explain this surge. To begin with, TVS reduced prices by up to Rs 26,000, which makes the scooter more attractive to a wider range of buyers. In addition, the company increased the battery capacity of important variants, improving the riding range to a claimed 145 km per charge. The S and ST versions now also include a fast 950W charger, cutting charging time and adding convenience for daily users.
TVS has also had a strong run overall. In FY2025, the company sold 18,13,103 scooters, with the iQube contributing 272,605 units, or 15% of its scooter portfolio. Moreover, in the first half of FY2026, the scooter achieved 147,773 units in wholesales, which marks 20% year-on-year growth. This boost helped TVS reach a 29% market share, the highest the company has ever recorded in the scooter segment.
However, the iQube faces increasing competition. Bajaj Auto’s Chetak, which was launched in the same month as the iQube, has crossed more than 500,000 retail sales. Ather Energy is also seeing renewed momentum with its Rizta family scooter, which has quickly gained popularity among urban riders. Furthermore, Bajaj briefly overtook TVS in October 2025 after addressing earlier production challenges, showing that the fight for the top spot remains intense.
Retail sales, which track actual customer purchases, also paint a strong picture for TVS. Around 653,513 iQubes have been sold to customers across India since 2020, excluding the state of Telangana.
In fact, 2025 is already shaping up to be the scooter’s best year yet. By September alone, TVS had delivered over 213,000 units, a 46% jump compared to the previous year, and the company surpassed its 2024 total early in October.
