Bajaj and Triumph are adding a cafe racer to their 400cc line‑up. The new Thruxton 400 will launch in India in August 2025. It will join five strong siblings: Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, T4, and Scrambler 400XC.
The spy shots show echoes of its bigger Thruxton brothers. The same lively 399cc single‑cylinder engine will power it, pushing 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm. Let’s explore what this bike brings to Indian streets.

The test bike sports a round LED headlight and cafe racer fairing. It has bar‑end mirrors, clip‑on bars, and a sleek single‑seat cowl. The motorcycle’s fairing takes cues from the Speed 1200 RR, giving it aggressive lines. The tank and seat shape feel vintage yet modern. This styling places it above the other 400cc models.
The upcoming Triumph bike comes with a 398–399cc liquid‑cooled single-cylinder engine. It delivers 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The power flows through a smooth six‑speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
Moreover, it shares the same frame, USD fork, and mono‑shock as Speed 400. Apart from this, the motorcycle has 300 mm front and 230 mm rear discs, with dual‑channel ABS. The LED lighting and semi‑digital instrumentation match the rest of the 400cc family.
The Thruxton joins at the top with café racer style. Later, Bajaj plans to introduce a Flat Tracker 400 as well. It is expected to cost between Rs 2.5 and 2.9 lakh (ex‑showroom). That puts it above the Speed 400 (Rs 2.4 lakh) and Scrambler 400X (Rs 2.65 lakh). Customers eager for café racer style under Rs 3 lakh will find this appealing.
