The Mini Racing Bike CRA Atom GP1 Launched At Rs. 2.75 Lakh In India

The launch of the Atom GP1 by CRA Motorsports marks an important development in the Indian motorsport industry. It will allow young riders aged between 10 to 17 years to enter grassroots racing at an affordable cost. 

Performance and Pricing of the CRA Mini Racing Bike

The race bike powers a 159cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 15bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.85Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The Atom GP1 is designed to be lightweight and agile, weighing about 85 kg. CRA Motorsports claims that the Atom GP1 has a top speed of 105 kmph, which is sufficiently fast for young riders. The bike has a competitive price tag of Rs 2.75 lakh, exclusive of GST, ex-showroom.

Features of CRA Atom GP1

The Atom GP1 has upside-down forks in the front and a mono-shock in the back. A single disc brake at the front and a petal-type disc brake at the back handle braking duties. 

The CRA Atom GP1 features a custom-built frame, TVS Ntorq-derived 12-inch alloy wheels, and TVS Remora tyres. 

The Atom GP1's fibre-glass body helps cut weight and improves the bike's aerodynamic efficiency. The race-tuned exhaust system optimises the engine's output and sound. The Coimbatore facility of CRA Motorsports is well-positioned with the capacity to produce 250 units per annum to meet the demand. 

About the Championship 

The new CRA Atom GP1 is not road legal and is only intended for track use. According to the manufacturer, young racers aged 10 to 17 years will compete on this bike in the first Atom GP1 Championship in 2023. It will set the stage for the 2023 INMRC (Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship) in October this year.

CRA Motorsports will launch the Atom GP Series with four national-level rounds to be hosted at Meco Kartopia in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The grid for the national championship will consist of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15 riders. Two 10-minute practice sessions for each round will consist of a 10-minute qualifying session and two races of eight and ten laps. 

According to the company, a 5-round national championship in 2024 will involve participants from 5 different countries. Other racing events are planned for 2025 also, with participants from 15 nations worldwide, including Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Prototypes and Locations

The development of the CRA Atom GP1 Race Bike took three years to build completely. The 

First and second prototypes of the bike came out in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Atom GP1 is now available to production-ready aspiring riders who have the opportunity to receive training on karting tracks in multiple locations. The training centres in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala, Ahmedabad, UAE, and Malaysia provide access to professional coaching and guidance.
