Sneak Peek: Royal Enfield Classic 650 Captured Undisguised Ahead of Launch

The RE Classic 650, the fifth motorcycle from Royal Enfield to feature the 648cc inline twin engine, has been spotted undisguised for the first time.

An undisguised version of the much-awaited Royal Enfield 650 Classic has been sighted, and this has generated quite a lot of excitement about it ahead of its global launch. With retro touches like the round headlamp and signature chrome accents that bring out the old-timey look, this motorcycle is sure to combine classic styling with contemporary engineering.

It will be powered by a 650cc parallel-twin engine, promising good power and decent comfort for both new riders and enthusiasts alike. With this sort of unveiling, public attention is sure to be drawn as Royal Enfield continues to create more lines that become iconic while meeting classic flair to contemporary performance.

Quick Highlights:

  • Classic 650 spotted undisguised before launch.
  • Retro design inspired by Classic 350 model.
  • Powered by a 648cc parallel-twin engine.
  • Debut scheduled for EICMA 2024 in Italy.
  • Expected pricing revealed at Motoverse event.

This is Royal Enfield's fifth motorcycle with a 650 platform. It will debut at EICMA 2024 in Italy this November. Recently, a spy shot went viral in the UK, showing a supposedly production-ready or nearly production-ready version of the bike. The fully undisguised Royal Enfield Classic 650 has surfaced ahead of its official launch.

Design and Specifications

Although it is pretty much a large version of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, the Classic 650 still has no semblance of originality. Similar to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 bike, the headlamp, mudguards, and even the taillight are identical on this. The fuel tank sports a neatly painted maroon and cream dual-tone finish. The fuel tank features a dual-tone maroon and cream finish, showcasing the Royal Enfield branding in a vintage font. This is one of two logos that the company trademarked earlier this year. The Classic 650 will probably come in a new set of colors, just like the revised Classic 350.

Besides this obvious chrome-cased engine, spoked wheels with tube tyres, and twin pea-shooter exhausts lie many other features. The fuel tank looks a bit bigger, about 15-16 litres. Tubular steel was used for the frame, with telescopic front forks and twin shocks to the rear on suspension. The brake will likely be a set of front 320mm discs with a twin-piston floating calliper and at the rear 300mm discs with a similar calliper, both featuring ABS. The system is borrowed from Super Meteor even taillight and indicators will be taken as well.

The Classic 650 will be powered by the well-known 648cc parallel twin engine, already featured in the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, and Shotgun 650. This engine currently produces 47 bhp and 52 Nm of torque, and it’s expected that these specifications will remain the same for the Classic 650. However, minor tweaks to the gearing and engine mapping may be implemented to enhance the bike's laid-back riding style. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is set to make its global debut at the EICMA 2024 motorcycle show, taking place in the first week of November in Italy. After that, it will likely be featured at RE’s 2024 Motoverse event in Goa, where pricing details are expected to be announced.
