Royal Enfield Announces Continental GT Cup For 2023

The third season of Royal Enfield's Continental GT Cup one-make racing championship is announced, and registrations have also started. Individuals who wish to showcase their racing ability in this unique retro-style racing programme can register for it. 

About the Championship

The Continental GT Cup, a part of the JK National Racing Championship in previous seasons, will continue to be a part of the championship in 2023. The Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India does the certification of the event.

The Selection Process for Championship

The Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup follows a Pro-Am series format, allowing amateur and professional racers to compete on the same grid. Royal Enfield will conduct a Rider Selection Programme to identify the most suitable riders for the upcoming season. A total of 100 riders will be selected to participate in the selection program from all the registered candidates. This program will take place at the Kari Motor Speedway on 1st August.

Following the Rider Selection Programme, a panel will evaluate the riders' performances, and 10 professional and 15 amateur candidates will be chosen to participate in the subsequent races. These selected riders will be able to compete in the Continental GT Cup races as part of the JK National Racing Championship.

About the Continental GT Cup 2023 season

The Continental GT Cup 2023 season will have three rounds and eight races between August and November of this year. The race track, Kari Motor Speedway, will remain the same for all rounds. In terms of the racing bike, all competitors will use race-spec Continental GT-R650 bikes. The inclusion of a race-tuned ECU and a free-flow exhaust are the most notable performance-oriented upgrades on this bike.

Furthermore, the 648cc parallel-twin engine is the same as the one found in the original Continental GT 650. Interestingly, we had the opportunity to ride the race bike around Kari last year, and it was quite an action-packed session.
