New LAUNCH Alert- Honda SP160! Here’s Everything You Need To Know!

New LAUNCH Alert- Honda SP160! Here’s Everything You Need To Know!

After releasing multiple teasers on its mysterious upcoming bike, Honda has finally pulled the covers off its new SP160. The company has come out with SP160 with 2 new variant models - Single Disc & Dual Disc.

The ex-showroom price of each variant is as follows-

  • Honda SP160 Single Disc Variant - Rs 1,17,500
  • Honda SP160 Dual Disc Variant - Rs 1,21,900

At a single glance, it is clear that the SP160 is a much sporty version of the Honda Unicorn. The idea behind the name of the bike might be influenced by the popular SP125, which has been on the market for a long time. This would create a sense of familiarity with the customer base since SP125 is known for reliability and high-performance delivery.

Design Elements of Honda SP160

Honda SP160 features an LED headlight design that gives us a major reminder of the SP125. However, the cowl around the bike seems chunky and aggressive as compared to SP125. The new bike is further designed with a muscular fuel tank with tank extensions that give the bike more of a bold look. The side panels have a fin-like design element, while the rear panels have sharp lines running, giving the bike a more sporty-looking design.

The LED Taillight is smartly designed with a V-shaped design, with each line going upwards with a convergence down the middle. Overall, the bike is designed in a commuter-style language similar to its 125cc sibling but with a dash of sportiness.

Features of Honda SP160

As for the features, Honda SP160 is equipped with an LCD instrument console that gives the following rider information:

  • Fuel Level
  • Gear Indicator
  • Odometer
  • Trip Metre Readings
  • Mileage
  • Speed
  • Time

Technical Specifications of Honda SP160

Honda has equipped its new 2023 Honda SP160 with a multitude of advanced technologies. For starters, it is powered by a 162.71 cc, single-cylinder engine, counterbalanced, BS6 2-compliant engine (similar to the engine found in the Unicorn). This highly responsive engine is capable of producing a peak power output of 13.4 PS and 14.58 NM torque, offering a truly unmatched performance on the road.

Additionally, the engine comes perfectly tuned to a 5-speed gearbox, giving precise power delivery to the rider.

Apart from this, the suspension system on the bike includes a telescopic fork & monoshock suspension setup. As for the brakes, the bike features 276 mm front & 220 mm rear petal-type disc brakes for the Dual-Disc variant model. For the Single Disc variant, the bike comes with a 276 mm disc brake in the front, 130 mm rear drum brake in the rear, along with Single-Channel ABS.

Dimensions of Honda SP160

Honda SP160 is a sporty commuter bike with a seat height of 796 mm & a ground clearance of 177 mm. Furthermore, it has a total fuel tank capacity of 12 litres (1 ltr smaller than the Unicorn). The kerb weight of SP160 is 139 kg for its Single Disc variant, whereas for its Dual Disc variant, the kerb weight is 141 kg.

Honda SP160 Colour Options

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India have launched SP160 with 6 colour options for customers to choose from, which are as follows -

  • Matte Marvel Blue Metallic
  • Matte Axis Gray Metallic
  • Matte Dark Blue Metallic
  • Pearl Spartan Red
  • Pearl Igneous Black
  • Pearl Deep Ground Gray

Honda SP160 Competitors in the Market

Honda SP160 is all set to compete against TVS RTR 160 & Bajaj Pulsar P150. Additionally, the company will offer a 3-year standard warranty on the bike, with an option to extend it for another 7 years.

That said, the new Honda SP160 doesn’t seem to offer anything drastically different from the current Unicorn that retails for Rs 1.06 Lakh. It will be interesting to see how the customers respond to this bike in the coming weeks.
