Ducati has officially unveiled the second-generation DesertX adventure motorcycle. The new model has been redesigned from the ground up with a new engine platform, revised chassis, updated suspension, and improved ergonomics. At the same time, the motorcycle keeps its rally-inspired identity, which has made the DesertX stand out in the adventure segment.

The new DesertX has the latest 890cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. The unit produces about 110 bhp and 92 Nm of torque, similar to the previous model’s output. However, it now focuses more on mid-range performance. Ducati claims that a large share of torque is available from as low as 3,000 rpm. Because of this, riders should find the bike easier to control in off-road conditions and slow technical sections.
In addition, Ducati has worked to reduce engine weight and increase valve-clearance service intervals. These changes make the motorcycle more practical for long touring journeys where reliability and maintenance intervals matter.

The new DesertX uses an aluminium monocoque frame where the engine acts as a structural element. This design improves rigidity while also helping reduce overall weight. The bike now weighs around 209 kg wet, which keeps it competitive in the adventure class.
The motorcycle now gets fully adjustable USD front fork that offers 230 mm of travel, while the rear monoshock provides 220 mm with a new linkage system. This long-travel setup should help riders tackle rough terrain more confidently. The motorcycle continues to run on a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, which remains ideal for serious off-road riding.
The new DesertX includes a strong electronics package designed to adapt to different riding conditions. It comes with six riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro, and Rally. The electronics suite also includes cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine-brake control, cruise control, and a bi-directional quickshifter. All information appears on a new 5-inch TFT display with updated graphics. In addition, Ducati has repositioned components like the air filter to make maintenance easier during long expeditions.
Visually, the new DesertX keeps its distinctive rally styling with twin headlamps, a tall stance, and minimal bodywork. However, small design tweaks make the bike look sharper and more modern. The fuel tank has been redesigned to be slimmer and lighter, and its weight now sits lower to improve balance. The foot pegs, handlebars, and seating position have also been adjusted to improve comfort when standing during off-road riding.
