Keeway Iskia 125 Launches in Europe, Will Compete With Vespa 125

The Chinese Qianjiang Group's two-wheeler brand Keeway, which is based in Hungary, offers a variety of motorcycles and scooters and is well-known in both Europe and Asia. However, with the introduction of the Iskia 125 scooter in Europe, the company has now further broadened its selection and is now competing with the wildly well-liked Vespa 125 on the market.

Keeway wants to profit from the increasing demand for retro-styled scooters in Europe and internationally. The Keeway Iskia 125 manages with classic retro styling evocative of the Vespa and Lambretta models despite missing out on the legacy of the Vespa range. The square headlamp, the curved side panels, and the chrome accents suggest a retro theme. The tan-finished leatherette-upholstered seat completes the appearance. The large rear grab rail and exhaust cover are finished in brushed aluminium, and the 12-inch turbine alloy wheels offer even more throwback appeal.

The 124.6 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, the fuel-injected engine generates 7.6 bhp at 7,500 rpm and provides power. A CVT transmission is used with the motor. Although the power level may not appear impressive, the scooter is light—only 107 kg—so it should have a decent power-to-weight ratio. A single 40 mm-travel rear shock absorber and a telescopic front fork suspension with 70 mm of travel make up the remaining mechanical parts. Front and rear disc brakes provide braking performance. The Keeway Iskia 125 has a front glovebox, an analogue instrument cluster with a digital screen, and LED lighting as features.

A1 licence holders in Europe as well as potential customers looking for a simple, easy-to-ride scooter for city use, are the target markets for Keeway. However, it is unknown if the Keeway Iskia 125 will enter the Indian market. With scooters like the Vieste 300 and Sixties 300i, distributed by Hyderabad-based Aadishwar Auto Ride India (AARI), Keeway entered the Indian market in 2022. The Iskia 125 would be a fantastic addition to the roster and help the company gain more recognition. Nonetheless, the scooter is a pricey purchase, with a suggested retail price of 2,390 Euros (or around 2.11 lakh) in Europe.
