Kawasaki Ninja 400 gets a cruiser makeover with Eliminator 400

The Eliminator 400 is back in the Kawasaki family after a gap of over 10 years.

Kawasaki has launched the Eliminator 400 cruiser in international markets. The bike is equipped with the same engine as the Ninja 400 sport bike. 

But the Eliminator 400 engine has a different tuning. The bike comes in two variants- standard and SE. The SE variant has front and rear cameras, among other extra features.

• A parallel-twin, two cylinders engine, 399cc displacement, 48 bhp and 37 Nm output.

Details of Kawasaki Eliminator 400 

The Eliminator 400 uses the same 399 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine as the Ninja 400. But it has a slightly higher output of 48hp and 37 Nm. 

In addition, the engine is mounted on a new trellis frame that supports a telescopic fork and a pair of shock absorbers.

The bike has dual-channel ABS, a 310 mm disc in the front, and a 240 mm disc in the back for braking. It has a smaller tank than the Ninja 400. The tank capacity of this bike is only 12 litres which is 5 litres smaller than Ninja 400. 

Furthermore, it weighs 176 kg which is 8 kg heavier than Ninja 400. The seat height is 735 mm, which is easy to reach for most riders.

The new Eliminator 400 follows the classic cruiser style. It has a long front fork, a curved fuel tank and a low-slung seat. However, it differs from most predecessors. 

The difference can be seen as it has minimal chrome and instead opting for a blacked-out look for the bodywork and components. It also features LED lights on both ends.

The Eliminator 400 has a similar design to the Honda Rebel 500, its main rival in some markets. However, it also has a modern feature of front and rear cameras. These cameras act as dash-cams and can provide evidence in case of an accident. The SE version of the Eliminator 400 also gets a tiny windscreen and rubber covers for the forks.

The Kawasaki Eliminator 400 is currently available in Japan for now. The company has not announced any plans to launch it in other countries. 

The base model costs 7,59,000 Japanese Yen (around Rs 4.71 lakh), while the SE version is priced at 8,58,000 Japanese Yen (around Rs 5.33 lakh).
