Kawasaki Eliminator Looks Ready for a Relaunch

This Kawasaki cruiser is all set to debut in Japan on March 17.

The long-forgotten name is set to be revived as the Kawasaki Eliminator. The new cruiser will likely be unveiled at the Osaka motorcycle show in Japan on March 17. 

A teaser for this sports cruiser was also posted on Kawasaki Thailand's social media channel. The bike will be presented at the Bangkok International Motor Show on March 22.

The Kawasaki Eliminator will sit below the Vulcan S and will likely be available with two powertrains - 250 cc and 400 cc engines. Further, the bike will generate power with an engine having a displacement of 250 cc. This engine will be the same parallel twin used on the Ninja 250 for Southeast Asia. The Eliminator could also get the same 400 cc parallel-twin engine from the Ninja 400 and Z400, helping it meet A2 licensing regulations in Europe.

The Eliminator was sold in many variations from its introduction in 1985 until its demise in 2007. Then, it was produced with engines ranging from 125 cc to 1000 cc. 

In India, the Eliminator was a 175 cc cruiser. This 175 cc cruiser resulted from the collaboration between Bajaj and Kawasaki. The Eliminator served as the base from which the Bajaj Avenger emerged in 2005.

Will Eliminator return to India with Royal Enfield? It's unlikely that a 250 cc variant will be released here to compete with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 for the money. After all, the 400 cc variants can compete with the Super Meteor 650; however, this would be a costly proposition.
