Honda Launched A New Lightning Edition Of Monkey 125cc Bike

The all-new Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning launched at THB 109k in Thailand. Monkey is one of the most likeable and popular bikes in Japan and several other International markets. It is an aesthetic upgrade of the previous version with a new colour scheme and other cosmetic changes.

Pricing of Honda Lightning

The Honda Monkey Lightning edition comes with premium pricing. It targets customers willing to pay extra for the exclusive profile and unique visual upgrades. The price of TBH 108,900, which is approximately Rs 2.59 lakh, is higher than the standard Monkey model. The standard Monkey variant is available at THB 99,700, around Rs 2.38 lakh. In addition to the Lightning edition, Honda will also offer the Monkey Easter Egg edition, available at THB 109,900, around Rs 2.62 lakh. 

Design and Features of Honda Monkey 

The bright yellow colour tone with a glossy finish is one of the key features of the Honda Monkey Lightning edition. Another key feature is the yellow shade present in the bike, making the motorcycle adorable and charming. 

The yellow colour appears on the USD forks, fuel tank, side panels, swingarm, and dual rear shock absorbers of the Monkey Lightning version. The bike is made even more appealing by the extensive use of chrome throughout the bike. Chrome is used on the front and back fenders, headlamps, instrument dashboards, brake and clutch levers, turn indicators, and rear tail lamps.

The chequered seat with a quilted design is another interesting upgrade to the bike. Stickering on the fuel tank and side panels is especially impressive. These have contrasting colours and enhance the overall design and feel of the bike. The hardware of the Honda Monkey Lightning edition is roughly the same as that of previous versions. 

The bike is driven by a 125cc engine that produces 9.2 hp and 11 Nm of peak torque. Monkey previously had a 4-speed transmission. However, the latest version has a 5-speed gearbox. Under various test conditions, it provides a fuel economy of 70.5 kmpl.

Honda Monkey also features disc brakes at both ends and ABS at the front. A fuel tank size of 5.6 litres is enough for city commuting. The presence of front fender and block pattern tyres helps the bike to handle off-road terrains effortlessly. 

Market Availability of Honda Monkey in India 

The Honda Monkey appears to have potential in the Indian market, but it will unlikely be offered any time soon. The experience with Navi might be a reason for the Monkey not being introduced in India. In comparison to Navi, Monkey has a completely different and attractive appearance. Monkey's unique riding experience is enjoyed by enthusiasts all around the world. Only time will tell if Monkey makes it to our shores.
