Hero XPulse 160 Spotted: The Upcoming Small Adventure Bike

Hero MotoCorp seems to be developing something exciting for adventure bike lovers in India. A brand-new off-road motorcycle from Hero was recently seen being tested on Indian roads. This test bike gives us a clue that the company has already done a lot of work on the new motorcycle. Moreover, it is almost ready for launch. The brand is planning to launch a smaller and more affordable version of its popular Xpulse series. Check out the details of this bike here. 

What Spy Shots Revealed?

From the spy shots, the new motorcycle seems to be powered by a 160cc engine. This engine is likely the same one used in the Hero Xtreme 160R. That means the upcoming bike might be called the Hero Xpulse 160. It is expected to get a 163.2cc four-valve engine that produces around 15 PS at 8,500 rpm of power and 14 Nm of torque at 6,500 rp. A 5-speed gearbox is also likely to be part of the configuration, making the bike smooth and fun to ride.

Looks Like the Xpulse 210, But Smaller and Simpler

Design-wise, the new bike shares some looks with the bigger Xpulse 210. But there are a few key differences. It doesn’t have an oil-cooling system or a windshield at the front. The disc brakes are smaller, too. Even the knuckle guards look different from the ones seen on the Xpulse 210. All of these points to Hero trying to make the bike lighter and cheaper, while still keeping that adventure-ready look.

Even though it’s a smaller bike, Hero might not compromise on off-road features. The test bike seems to have the same suspension setup as the Xpulse 210. It also uses a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, which are perfect for rough roads and trails. This shows that Hero wants to keep the new bike capable enough for off-roading while saving costs by reusing parts from the Xpulse 210.

Could It Be the Return of the Hero Impulse?

There’s also talk that Hero might use this new motorcycle to bring back the Impulse name. The Impulse was the first adventure bike made by Hero after it split from Honda. It was also one of the first modern off-road bikes in the Indian market. Although nothing is confirmed yet, many believe Hero could name this new 160cc bike the Impulse, instead of using the Xpulse badge again.
