Hero MotoCorp Patents Vida Ubex Electric Bike Design in India

Hero MotoCorp’s electric arm, Vida, has patented the Ubex electric bike design in India recently. The Ubex was earlier shown as a concept at EICMA 2025, gaining attention for its sharp styling. However, the newly surfaced patent images suggest a more practical and production focused direction. Therefore, this move hints that Vida may be preparing its first electric motorcycle for real world use. So far, Vida has only sold electric scooters, hence the Ubex could expand its electric portfolio.

Design Patent Signals Possible Production Intent

The design patent not only protects styling but may also indicate progress toward a final model. Moreover, the patented version looks different from the concept shown at the global motor show. This version appears more suited for everyday riding and large scale manufacturing conditions. Hence, the Ubex might soon move beyond concept status into a near-production stage.

Visible Changes From The Concept Model

The bike shown in patent images skips some adventure-focused parts seen on the concept version. For example, the high front fender, hand guards, and rear tyre hugger are missing here. However, the overall design still looks modern and sharp from every angle. The projector headlamp with LED DRLs gives a clean and aggressive appearance. In addition, the tank shaped body panels help riders grip the bike better using their legs.

Chassis & Hardware Details Revealed

One major change is the use of telescopic front forks instead of inverted units. Therefore, this suggests a strong focus on cost control and easier maintenance. The bike also features disc brakes and alloy wheels, as seen in the patent drawings. Moreover, the battery pack looks well integrated within the frame for balanced weight distribution. The riding setup includes mid set footpegs and a tall handlebar, hinting at comfort-focused ergonomics.

Expected Positioning & Launch Outlook

Hero has not shared details about motor power, battery size, or riding range yet. However, industry expectations suggest a public showcase at Hero World event in March 2026. Interestingly, this patent surfaced soon after another Vida electric bike, the sportier VXZ. Hence, Vida appears to be actively building a broader electric motorcycle lineup.
