India’s festive season brings joy, family gatherings, and exciting new purchases. Every year, Navratri also encourages many people to buy new vehicles, making it an important time for the automobile industry.

The latest Navratri 2026 sales report from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) highlights strong growth in electric two-wheeler sales, while the overall two-wheeler market recorded a slight change compared with last year.

According to FADA’s data, dealers sold 8,34,075 two-wheelers during Navratri 2026, compared with 8,58,027 units during Navratri 2025. This marks a year-on-year decline of 2.79%. However, the comparison with Navratri 2024 tells a more positive story. Two-wheeler sales grew by 32.41% from 6,29,909 units in 2024, showing that festive demand remains strong over the two-year period.

Why Two-Wheeler Sales Changed in 2026?

FADA President Mr. Sai Giridhar explained that Navratri 2026 lasted ten days, while Navratri 2025 lasted eleven days. In addition, last year’s festive period coincided with the GST 2.0 rollout, which encouraged many buyers to purchase vehicles during that time.

Therefore, the small decline in sales compared with 2025 needs to be viewed in this context. Perhaps the comparison with Navratri 2024 offers a clearer picture of the market’s growth, as two-wheeler sales increased by more than 32% over that period.

Electric two-wheelers remained a key highlight of the Navratri 2026 report. The total sales was 75,758 electric two-wheelers, compared with 56,787 units in 2025. As a result, EV two-wheeler sales grew by an impressive 33.41% year-on-year.

Moreover, the numbers show even stronger growth over two years. EV two-wheeler sales reached 40,450 units during Navratri 2024, meaning sales increased by 87.29% by Navratri 2026. This rise points to growing interest in electric mobility among Indian buyers.

What to Expect During the Next Festive Phase?

As the festive season moves towards Dhanteras and Diwali, dealers may see more customers visit showrooms. During this period, buyers continue to benefit from better affordability, while their interest in new vehicles keeps growing.

In addition, the strong performance of electric two-wheelers highlights a gradual shift towards cleaner transport options. Overall, Navratri 2026 shows that the two-wheeler market has grown strongly since 2024, while electric two-wheelers continue to gain momentum during India’s festive shopping season.
