FADA Just Released January 2023 Sales Report: Looks at a 10.07% Rise YoY

As per January 2023 sales data recently released by FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, the Indian 2-wheeler industry showed a 10.07% rise YoY, as compared to January 2022. 

For January 2023, 12,65,069 units of total 2-wheelers were sold in the Indian market. This indicates an increase in the total 2-wheeler sales in India by 1,15,718 units, translating to a 10.07% year-on-year increase in total 2-wheeler retail. As a result, the figures for the total 2-wheeler sold in the Indian market for January 2022 stood at 11,49,351 units.

This year too, we see Hero MotoCorp leading the entire 2-wheeler market in India with more than 3,70,690 units sold. This year, the company saw an increase of 4.09% YoY, with the January 2022 sales figure at 3,56,117 units.

Second on the list is the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., which saw a growth of 23.27%, with 3,18,184 units sold this year and 2,58,128 units last year in the same month. Finally, TVS Motor Company bagged 3rd place, but with an increase of 15.30%, with 2,08,164 units sold this year and 1,80,543 units sold last year in the same month.

Ola electric became the number one player in the electric two-wheeler market with a growth percentage of a whopping 1549.64% this year. The company sold 18,245 units in January 2023 as compared to 1,106 units in January 2022.

Ola Electric is followed by Ather Energy Pvt Ltd., which saw a growth of 385.86%, with 9,139 units sold in January 2023 as compared to 1,881 units sold in January 2022. Hero Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd took a big dip this month of 17.66%, with 6,393 units sold in January 2023 as compared to 7,764 units sold in January 2022.
