Ampere Reo 80 Electric Scooter Launched at Just Rs 59,900

Ampere, India's popular two wheeler brand, introduced the new Ampere Reo 80 electric scooter. Designed for budget and first-time buyers of EVs, the scooter carries a starting price tag of only Rs 59,900. The scooter has a compact build, sleek body, and comes with a fine option for navigating short distances through the city streets.

It isn't required to be licensed and registered as the scooter operates less than 25 kmph. Ampere intends to start deliveries in April 2025. Stylish Yet Simple Design

The Ampere Reo 80 resembles the previous Reo models quite closely. Its small, light-weighted body is ideal for urban driving and thin roads. Additionally, it has four nice dual-tone colors: Black, Red, Blue, and White. This makes it visually attractive to young people, families, and elderly citizens as well. The alloy wheels and sleek LED lights give a trendy and premium look to the vehicle.

The Ampere Reo 80 is powered by a 1.44 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. The LFP batteries are known for better thermal safety and a longer lifespan. This means fewer chances of overheating and longer usage without needing a replacement. Moreover, the battery offers a claimed range of up to 80 km on a full charge. That makes it perfect for daily city rides and short errands around town. Further, charging the battery takes less than six hours, as per the company’s claim.

No License or Registration Needed

The Reo 80 has a 0.25 kW hub-mounted motor and a maximum speed of 25 kmph. As it operates below the 25 kmph limit, there is no license or registration required to operate it. Thus, it's a wonderful vehicle for teenagers, students, or those who are first-time EV riders. Also, senior citizens and families can utilize it securely for daily work. Although it's simple to ride, don't forget to wear a helmet and obey traffic rules.

The electric scooter is equipped with 10-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Aside from this, the scooter has telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear end. The front wheel features a disc brake, while the rear features a drum brake. This configuration provides satisfactory stopping power and improved control during city traffic.

Smart Features for a Better Experience

Ampere has introduced several modern features to give the Reo 80 a premium touch. It receives a coloured LCD screen displaying speed, battery level, and ride information. The screen is readable and contributes to the scooter's sleek appearance. Additionally, the scooter receives a new keyless start system with a smart keyfob. You can start it without a physical key, which is convenient. The all-LED light enhances visibility while also conserving energy.

Ampere is owned by Greaves Electric Mobility, a reliable brand in the EV arena. They have recorded constant growth, selling more than 6,000 units in March 2025 alone. As per the data provided by VAHAN, their sales increased by 52% month-on-month. This indicates increased trust in Ampere products in Indian customers.
