75 Indian & 5 Global Launches at Auto Expo 2023 Starts Today

Five global premieres and up to 75 national unveilings and launches will take place at the Auto Expo 2023, which is being organised by the Society of IndianAutomobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the confederation of Indian industry. The event begins on January 11 and runs through January 17.

Even though some manufacturers have chosen not to participate, the exhibition is greater than the 2020 version in several areas, according to Rajesh Menon, director general of Siam, in a statement to FE.

“There is a larger number of overall industry participants compared to previous editions,” Menon said. “Around 80 industry stakeholders are participating at the Motor Show, including 46 vehicle manufacturers.”

The number of start-ups involved in the automotive industry attending the Auto Expo in 2023 will be at an all-time high, and nearly all of them will be pure electric vehicle (EV) participants in the two- and three-wheeler markets. The largest-ever display of EVs in Auto Expo for both passenger and commercial vehicles will be at the event.

Menon said that ethanol-powered vehicles would receive special attention despite the show’s significant EV exhibit. “A separate ethanol pavilion will showcase technological developments in the ethanol value chain. Some vehicle manufacturers would display their working prototypes of flex-fuel vehicles, which can be run on ethanol blends varying from 20-85%.”

“These OEMs are Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, TVS, Honda Motorcycle, Yamaha and Suzuki in the two-wheeler space, and Maruti Suzuki and Toyota in the four-wheeler space,” he said. “The spread of display of powertrain options (ethanol, electric, hydrogen, hybrid, LNG and CNG) would be much wider compared to previous editions.”

The supercar pavilion (showcasing high-end luxury vehicles) and a vintage car pavilion will also be present.
