5 Key Updates in the Recently Launched Yamaha FZ-S V4

The Yamaha FZ line has grown significantly in favour among bikers thanks to its robust style, good performance, and affordable price. Like it did with this most recent update, Yamaha has periodically given the FZ enough technology and amenities to stay competitive in the premium commuter segment. The new FZ-S Version 4 has a few new features that set it apart from the basic FZ-S from the previous generation.

Headlight:
 

It's not like you're getting antiquated technology with the standard FZ-S because it has LED lighting, but the new FZ-S Version 4 has a brighter unit that has been updated. As a result, FZ-S Version 4 appears more modern in terms of appearance.

LED Indicators:
 

In contrast to the basic FZ-LED S's headlamp and taillight, LED indicators are an optional extra. The FZ-S V4 DLX model, however, will come standard with it. As a result, LED indicators might not be included as standard in the cheapest model, which is anticipated to go on sale later this year.

Revised Instrumentation:

An entirely redesigned digital instrument cluster is another modest but recent improvement to the FZ-S V4. Although the layout, readouts, and housing are updated for that extra premium touch, the LCD is still simply the regular FZ-S.

Traction Control System:

Yes, having traction control on a bike like the FZ-S that spends most of its time in cities sounds like overkill, but for a high-end commuting buyer, this technology could be profitable. In addition, both the new FZ-S V4 and the basic FZ-S have single-channel ABS; therefore, this will significantly differentiate the two models in terms of safety.

E20 Fuel:
 

Flex-fuel is a hot new subject in the search for renewable fuel sources. India has been pressing for this transition, and the new FZ-S Version 4 is one of the country's first motorcycles to comply with E20 flex fuel regulations. As a result, the FZ-S V4 can run on 20% ethanol and 80% petrol, unlike the normal FZ-S, which can only run on pure gasoline.

These updates appear minor and underwhelming on paper. Particularly in light of the fact that more power is the first improvement we would have loved to see on the FZ-S V4. Despite being E20 compliant, the FZ-S V4 continues to produce the same output (12.4PS and 13.3Nm) as before, which is fortunate because flex fuel robs most motorcycles of their performance.

The FZ-S V4 costs Rs 1.27 lakh, which is about Rs 3,000 higher than the FZ-S V3 (Deluxe), which is priced at Rs 1.24 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). However, the price increase seems more than justified, given the number of updates you receive with the FZ-S V4.
