Ultraviolette to Build New Plant in Hosur with 2.5 Lakh Unit Capacity

Ultraviolette has announced plans to build a new manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company will use the facility to increase production of its Tesseract electric scooter and upcoming electric two-wheelers. The new plant will have an initial annual capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles, while its design will allow production to reach 5 lakh units every year in the future.

Ultraviolette BIGGA Factory to Come Up in Hosur

The new facility, called the BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory, will come up at SIPCOT Industrial Park in Shoolagiri, Hosur. The Tamil Nadu government will help the company with the land for the plant.

Initially, Ultraviolette will use the factory to make the Tesseract electric scooter. However, the company also plans to produce future models across several segments, including sports bikes, crossover bikes, cruisers, street bikes and scooters.

In addition, the new plant will create around 2,000 jobs during its first phase. This number could increase over the next five years as the company expands production.

New Plant to Use Modern Manufacturing Technology

The BIGGA Factory will use modern production systems to improve manufacturing and quality checks. It will include a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to track production in real time.

Furthermore, Ultraviolette will use digital manufacturing systems, collaborative robots and automated quality checks. Vision-based inspection systems will also help check vehicles during production. A dedicated test track will allow the company to test vehicles before sending them to customers.

“The BIGGA Factory is a significant step in that direction, giving us the manufacturing capacity and infrastructure to scale Tesseract and our future products, while creating the ability to serve a much larger customer base in India and international markets,” said Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder and CEO, Ultraviolette.

Bengaluru Plant to Continue Operations

Ultraviolette will continue to operate its existing manufacturing facility in Bengaluru alongside the new Hosur plant. This two-plant setup will help the company handle higher demand as its product range grows.

The Hosur location will also give Ultraviolette easier access to Tamil Nadu's automotive supply chain and its existing suppliers. Moreover, its close connection to Bengaluru will support the company's operations and future expansion.

According to Ultraviolette, the BIGGA Factory will help it serve more customers in India and international markets as it expands its electric two-wheeler portfolio.
