Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially removed the Katana from its product lineup. The bike has been taken off the company’s website, & dealers have been instructed to stop new bookings.
Launched in 2022 at Rs. 13.6 lakh (ex-showroom), the Katana couldn’t generate enough sales in India. Despite its capable engine & modern features, the motorcycle failed to attract a wide customer base.
The Katana entered the Indian market with expectations, but sales numbers remained weak from the start. The riders in India generally prefer larger motorcycles with better road presence, & Katana didn’t offer.
Moreover, its retro 1980s-inspired styling did not match the modern taste of many Indian buyers. As a result, the bike struggled to build popularity despite its strong performance.
The Katana features a BS6-compliant 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Additionally, it generates 150.19 bhp of power and 106 Nm of maximum torque. Besides that, it comes with a six-speed gearbox, making it ideal for highway cruising & city commute.
Suzuki rarely withdraws its big motorcycles from India, but the Katana’s poor performance made the decision clear. Hence, the company decided to discontinue the bike, marking the end of its short run in the Indian market. Before you go, don’t forget to check out the 2026 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Launched
