Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Spotted Ahead of September Launch

Royal Enfield is preparing to launch the Himalayan 440 in India on 4 September. Before its launch, the motorcycle was spotted at what appears to be a dealership stockyard. Although the bike was partly covered, some details were clearly visible.

Himalayan 440 Gets A Simple Console

One of the key changes is its instrument console. Unlike the old Himalayan 411, the new bike gets a simpler setup. It appears to have an analogue speedometer with a small LCD screen for other information. In addition, it gets a separate Tripper navigation unit, which could be offered as an optional feature.

Same Engine As Scram 440

The Himalayan 440 will use the same platform as the Scram 440. It will get a 443cc air and oil cooled single cylinder engine. This motor produces 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm and comes with a six speed gearbox. Moreover, its strong low end torque should help during off road rides.

However, the Himalayan 440 is expected to get a 21 inch front wheel, unlike the Scram 440's 19 inch unit. Perhaps this change will give it better off road ability.

The bike may look similar to the Himalayan 411, with new colours and decals. Its expected price is around Rs 2.50 lakh (ex showroom).
