River Indie Electric Scooter Launched: Check Features and Specifications

River, an electric vehicle startup based in Bengaluru, has introduced a new product called the Indie. This electric scooter boasts a distinctive design and robust capabilities. The brand's R&D centre in Bengaluru created this product in-house. 

The River Indie has a compact silhouette, with a twin-pod headlamp and DRL cluster featuring LED lighting at the front. The scooter rides on 14-inch wheels, India's largest available electric scooter. The under-seat storage capacity of the River Indie is 43 litres, the largest of any electric scooter in India, and it also has a front glove box with 12 litres of storage. 

The electric scooter has pannier stays on the sides, allowing riders to add bags, a unique feature. Additionally, the front of the scooter has metal crash guards that protect it from damage in the event of a fall.

During the launch of the electric scooter, Aravind Mani, CEO and co-founder of River, expressed that their company aims to enhance people's daily lives by prioritising design. Their first product, Indie, is a remarkable fusion of utility and lifestyle and is intended to be a practical and stylish scooter. 

Vipin George, Chief Product Officer and co-founder of River stated that Indie is influenced by the contemporary Indian individual who is always on the go and desires to make the most out of their day. He also added that a unique combination of design elements and technical specifications gives Indie a distinct personality, which inspires them to achieve more.

The River Indie electric scooter features a telescopic front suspension and a twin hydraulic suspension at the rear for a comfortable ride. It has a 240mm front disc and a 200mm rear disc for braking. The high-contrast display offers excellent visibility, even in bright sunlight. 

The scooter is powered by 6.7kW (9 bhp) electric motor, which can achieve a top speed of 90 km/h. The 4kWh battery pack provides a real-world range of 120km and can be charged 0 to 80% in five hours using a standard charger. There are three ride modes - Eco, Ride and Rush - to choose from, and the scooter also has reverse parking assist.
