Kawasaki India has just made the KLX 230 dual-sport bike far more affordable. The 2025 model carried a hefty Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag. However, the production has now shifted to India, cutting the cost by Rs 1.30 lakh.
The 2026 KLX 230 now starts at Rs 1.99 lakh and keeps its rugged spirit alive with high ground clearance and off-road-ready suspension. This makes it a strong, attractive contender against rivals like the Hero Xpulse 210. Here’s a look at how the bike stacks up and why this price drop matters for off-road fans.
Kawasaki has made a big change in pricing for the KLX 230. The price cut is permanent, not a limited offer. The company now makes the bike in India. This has reduced the cost by Rs 1.3 lakh. Moreover, the 2026 KLX 230 now costs Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike’s engine and features remain the same. Kawasaki has added new decals for a fresh look.
The KLX 230 is a lightweight off-road bike, weighing around 139 kg. It has a 233 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine. This engine makes 17.8 bhp and 18.3 Nm of torque. Moreover, the power goes through a smooth six-speed gearbox.
Its lightweight and long-travel suspension make it easy to handle off-road. The bike has 265 mm ground clearance for tough trails. It rides on strong wire-spoke wheels, 21-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear.
After the price cut, the KLX 230 now directly competes with the Hero Xpulse 210. The Xpulse costs between Rs 1.76 lakh and Rs 1.86 lakh. It has a more powerful liquid-cooled engine with 24 bhp and 21 Nm torque. However, it weighs about 170 kg, which is much heavier than the KLX.
The KLX’s lighter build makes it better for off-road control and easy handling. Kawasaki also launched the KLX 230RS, priced at Rs 1.94 lakh. This version is for off-road only, with no mirrors, lights, or indicators. It gets knobby tyres for better grip on trails.
