Honda Confirms Two New Electric Scooters for India

An official document from Honda confirms the launch of two e-scooters in 2024.

An official document from Honda Global confirms the company's launch of two new electric scooters for the Indian market. Honda Two-Wheeler India is set to enter the electric vehicle segment with these upcoming scooters. The document states that both electric scooters are scheduled to debut in 2024. This announcement solidifies Honda's plans to introduce electric mobility options to cater to the Indian market's growing demand for electric vehicles. 

Battery Systems of Honda Electric Scooters

The document also states that Honda plans to introduce electric scooters with swappable and fixed-type battery systems. It will help the customers to choose the system that matches their requirements. The scooters could be offered with different trims, each featuring an additional battery pack option. 

Design of Upcoming Electric Scooters of India

Honda's upcoming electric scooter lineup will consist of two distinct designs. One design is described as a regular commuter scooter, resembling the electric version of the Activa, which might be called the Activa EV. The second design is said to be sporty and targeted towards performance-oriented young buyers. This scooter could draw design inspiration from the Honda Dio. The sporty electric scooter might feature dynamic and youthful design elements to appeal to a specific market segment.

Upcoming Honda Electric Scooter Details

Honda's upcoming electric scooters will be manufactured in India and based on a new EV-specific platform called Platform' E'. This platform is also expected to be the foundation for future electric scooter models. According to media reports, the first scooter, possibly named Activa Electric, is speculated to have a fixed battery type. On the other hand, the second scooter could feature a swappable battery. 

Competitions of Upcoming Honda Electric Scooters

The specific powertrain, battery pack details and pricing have yet to be disclosed. However, the power figures and pricing of the upcoming Honda electric scooters will likely be competitive. It will compete with other major rivals in the Indian market, such as the Ola S1, Ather 450, and Hero Vida V1.
