Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Review: A Good Choice Or Not

The new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V aims to improve upon its predecessor's strengths with a fully updated engine featuring 4 valves and subtle design enhancements. The brand targets success in the premium motorcycle segment with good handling, balance, commendable fuel efficiency, and likeable styling. 

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V price in India starts from Rs. 1,48,900. This Hero bike is available in three variants: Standard, Connected, and Pro. It is positioned as a strong contender in the 160cc segment and offers tough rivals to the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

Hero Xtreme now accompanies a 163cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor that delivers 16.6bhp @ 8500rpm and 14.4Nm @ 6500rpm of torque. Its engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox. This improves speed acceleration, making it one of the quickest in its segment. The bike feels more responsive, with significant acceleration speed in practically any gear.

Hero Xtreme 160 4V top speed is 115 kmph. The motor works great for city rides and speeds up to 85-90 kmph. However, it feels unpleasant and needs power past that. The bike battles to maintain agreeable performance at higher speeds, and it probably won't be perfect for long tours. Moreover, the new engine adds weight to the bike, expanding it to 144kg. Moreover, the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Mileage is 45 kmpl, which is ideal in the 160cc bike segment.

Hero Xtreme 160R keeps up with its basic design yet makes subtle improvements. The headlamp is a bit lower, and the tank visuals have been refreshed. A belly pan and a two-piece seat add to its appeal.

The bike looks sporty and has helpful features like a seat that is scooped at the back, allowing riders to sit comfortably. The handlebar is situated towards the rider, and the footpegs are marginally impaired, giving areas of strength for a sporty riding position. The seat padding is thick and comfortable, making it suitable for long rides.

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V bike has a digital dashboard, USB charging port, side stand sensor, and ABS. The dashboard shows a lot of information, but it's hard to see in bright sunlight.

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V features a 7-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear and a 37mm telescopic suspension at the front. It features a single-channel ABS braking system with a 276mm front brake and 220mm rear brake disc.

The brakes on the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V are reliable and suit its sporty style, but they had to be more initial bite. You need to start braking earlier to stop smoothly. The suspension is another positive aspect. Even though it's a bit stiff, it handles bumps and rough roads well. When riding faster, you hardly feel the bumps at all.
