Hero MotoCorp’s First Electric Motorcycle Takes Shape with Project VxZ

Hero MotoCorp’s dream of entering India’s electric motorcycle space is now becoming real. Fresh patent leaks have revealed what looks like the production-ready version of Project VxZ. This electric bike was first shown as a concept at EICMA 2025, and now the new sketches suggest that Hero is preparing for its first mass-market electric motorcycle. In addition, this move shows that the company is serious about expanding its EV lineup beyond electric scooters.

Hero and Zero Join Hands for Electric Future

The electric two-wheeler venture of Hero got a strong push in 2022 when it invested in Zero Motorcycles. Since then, this collaboration has progressed slowly. However, Hero had already launched a small electric dirt motorcycle for young customers, and Project VxZ appears to be the first electric motorcycle with a complete body.

The name VxZ is thought to have a connection to VIDA, the Hero electric brand, and Zero Motorcycles. However, judging by the leaked patent pictures, the motorcycle is not a Zero motorcycle rebadged. Rather, the motorcycle represents a completely new offering, specifically geared towards Hero's market. This is a significant point because the motorcycle has been designed to suit the Indian market and local purchasing power.

New Platform Made for Indian Roads

The patent drawings show a unique frame design and battery layout. These details do not match any Zero electric motorcycle sold globally. This strongly hints that Hero is developing a new electric platform from scratch. Perhaps this approach will help the company keep costs in control while offering a bike suited for daily use in India. Moreover, it opens the door for more electric models based on the same platform in the future.

Design and Features Seen in Patent Sketches

The leaked sketches show a sporty street-style electric motorcycle with modern design touches. It gets a sharp LED headlamp, LED indicators, and semi-faired body panels that give it a bold look. In addition, upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock suggest a focus on stable handling. The bike also uses disc brakes at both ends and a belt drive system.

Other visible highlights include a split seat setup, a large digital instrument display, and signs of multiple ride modes. The battery pack sits at the center, which should help balance the bike. Meanwhile, 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres complete the road-ready design.

If priced well, it could become India’s first truly mass-market electric motorcycle from a homegrown brand. Overall, Hero’s electric future now looks more exciting than ever.
