Dakar Rally 2023 Stage 5: Sherco Factory Takes 2 Spots In The Top 10

Due to the weather, Stage 3 of the 2023 Dakar Rally was cut to 377 km, and absolute favourites like Ricky Brabec and Carlos Sainz suffered significant defeats. Nevertheless, the stage was successfully completed by all four Hero MotoSports riders, with Joaquim Rodrigues leading the way for the Indian team with a top-10 result.

Ricky Brabec Out of Dakar 2023

Ricky Brabec, the champion of the 2020 Dakar, was compelled to leave the rally after suffering a serious injury in Stage 3. The Honda rider was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital as he was complaining of neck pain. Honda has already issued a statement clarifying that he has no fractures or any serious wounds, but he will be monitored during the next 24 hours.

Sam Sunderland's early retirement has eliminated two previous Dakar Rally champions from contention.

Rodrigues 10th for Hero MotoSports

Rodrigues had a far better performance on the sand-filled Stage 3 than he did on the uneven Stage 2. Rodrigues states, "today's stage was incredibly fast, sand-packed, and a better day than yesterday." "I enjoyed the beach, and I rode by myself the entire day. I made an effort to advance, but the terrain was exceedingly hazardous. Unfortunately, today's crash has eliminated [Ricky] Brabec from the race. When we see our buddies on the ground, it hurts us greatly. From there, it took me some time to pick up my speed again, but the rest of the stage went well for me. He moved up to 16th place overall after finishing in tenth place on the stage.

Ross Branch likewise found the sandy ground to be much more advantageous and placed 15th overall. With this, he has now entered the top 10 overall (in position 10).

Franco Caimi finished 18th on the stage and is currently in 14th place overall despite having trouble adjusting to the upgraded Hero 450 Rally bike. Just 50 kilometres from the finish line, Sebastian Buhler, who placed second in Stage 2, experienced a minor accident and lost some time as a result. Nevertheless, he finished stage 23 in third place, moving him down to fifteenth.

A Trouble-Free Stage for Harith Noah

Harith Noah, the sole Indian rider racing in this year's Dakar Rally, had a much better run on Stage 3 after a challenging and crash-filled Stage 2. He came in 32nd overall and 33rd on the stage.

Sanders, Chicherit Win Stage 3

Daniel Sanders, a Red Bull GasGas factory rider, won Stage 3 to seize the overall lead as well.

Nasser Al-Attiyah took the lead in the automobile category after early leader Carlos Sainz experienced mechanical difficulties. The first time was due to a fractured ball joint, and the second time was due to a puncture, forcing Sainz's Audi RS Q e-Tron R2 to stop twice. He miscalculated by about an hour, and as a result, he is now in ninth place overall.

Guerlain Chicherit of GCK Motorsport won the stage with the best time, although Toyota's Al-Attiyah took the overall lead with a 13th-place finish. Al-Attiyah and Sainz are currently more than 30 minutes apart in the rankings.
