Mahindra Group’s company Classic Legends, which manufactures motorcycles under iconic brands like Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA, is preparing to expand its portfolio. The company is planning to launch new motorcycles in the scrambler segment during the current financial year (FY27). This move comes as part of a strategy to maintain growth in the premium mid size motorcycle segment.

Classic Legends Enters Top 10 Two-Wheeler Manufacturers

According to vehicle data, Classic Legends has entered the top 10 two wheeler manufacturers in the country in terms of sales in February this year. In FY26, the company recorded a year-on-year volume growth of 39%, with total registrations crossing 45,000 units.

The plan to expand into the scrambler segment comes at a time when there is rapidly growing demand in the retro and lifestyle motorcycle segment. Scrambler motorcycles are suitable for both on road and light off road (rough terrains). In simple terms, they are often referred to as ‘dirt bikes’.

Historical Importance of the Scrambler Segment

The scrambler segment has a deep historical connection with Classic Legends’ brands, especially BSA and Yezdi. In the late 1940s, enthusiasts modified bikes like BSA Gold Star singles and BSA A10 twins to handle rough and mixed terrains, which laid the foundation of scrambler culture.

Classic Legends Co-founder Anupam Thareja said, “The company received tremendous response from bikers last year and will continue to strengthen its portfolio with the ‘classic format’.” He declined to share specific details about upcoming models but added, “When customers buy our motorcycles, they make an emotional decision, and we take those emotions very seriously.”

Jawa, Yezdi and BSA: Which Brand Will Lead First?

In the Indian market, scrambler motorcycles like Royal Enfield Scram 411 and Honda CB350 are already present. In such a scenario, Classic Legends may introduce strong and distinctive scrambler models using its heritage brands Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA. The company is expected to use its existing platforms to keep costs optimized and enter the market quickly.

Although the exact launch date and model names are not yet revealed, sources suggest that the first new scrambler could be launched early in FY27, possibly under the Yezdi or BSA brand. Both brands have a long standing association with off road riding.
