BS6 Bike Discounts: Should You Wait for Phase 2?

BS6 Bike Discounts: Should You Wait for Phase 2?

Starting from April 1, 2023, new emission regulations called BS6 Phase 2 or BS6.2 or OBD-2 will be enforced. As a result, manufacturers are gradually updating their lineup to meet the new standards.

However, don’t expect bike makers to offer huge discounts on their BS6 inventory at the last minute like they did when BS3 switched to BS4. If you’re hoping for that, you’ll be let down.

The reason is that bike makers can only produce BS6-compliant products until March 31, 2023. However, the government has not set a specific deadline for sales. So one can still buy a brand-new BS6 product after April 1 if stock is left

Hence, bike makers don’t need to offer discounts on their products made until March 31. But, the sale of BS6 products (after the new norms start) will be only until the stocks run out.

You won’t see any change in performance and efficiency in the vehicles that meet BS6 Phase 2 norms. This is because manufacturers will have to make only a few adjustments to the engine to reduce emissions in laboratory conditions as well as in the real world.

Many two-wheelers that were proactively upgraded to the new norms have some noticeable features to make up for the price increase

Yamaha added traction control to its FZ, FZX and MT-15, making some models compatible with E20 fuel. However, not everyone might need or want to use new features, so the price increase may not be worth it for some. If you’re one of those, we recommend buying your vehicle when the stock is still new.
