BMW R 12 S Launched Globally: Retro Charm with Modern Performance

BMW has just launched the R 12 S bike in the international market. It is painted in Lava Orange Metallic, inspired by the iconic R 90 S Daytona Orange from 1975. In the USA, the BMW R 12 S is priced at USD 21,590 (around Rs. 18.26 lakh). Unfortunately, the R 12 S is not expected to debut in India. However, it shares compatibility with accessories from the R 12 nineT, making customization easy for owners.
 

Performance and Features 

The BMW R 12 S is powered by a 1,170cc boxer-twin engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft drive system. It delivers 108 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. This engine is the same as the one used in the R 12 nineT.

It also comes with bar-end mirrors and a sleek rear seat cowl. The spoked wheels with anodized rims add a vintage feel, while the black handlebars and fork tubes give it a bold look. The bike’s left-side twin exhaust setup is unique and adds character.
 

Moreover, the bike has fully adjustable USD front forks and a rear monoshock for a smooth ride. It features disc brakes on both ends and premium 17-inch tyres. This cafe racer bike is fitted with a smoked bubble visor and retro-rounded half-fairing. 
 

In terms of features, BMW has packed the R 12 S with advanced rider aids. These include traction control, multiple ride modes like rain and road, and engine brake control. Additional features like heated grips, hill start assist, and cruise control ensure a comfortable ride. You can also opt for an adaptive cornering light system for better visibility.
