EICMA 2026: BMW M 1000 RS Unveiled With 218bhp Power

BMW Motorrad has introduced a new limited-edition motorcycle at EICMA 2026. Called the BMW M 1000 RS, it takes the M 1000 R streetfighter to a higher level with more power, lighter parts and track-focused equipment. The company will produce only 1,000 units worldwide, with each motorcycle carrying unique numbering and special badging.

BMW M 1000 RS

The BMW M 1000 RS gets several premium components from the brand's M performance range. Its equipment includes adjustable M-Footrest rider footpegs and a carbon Monoposto rear cowl. In addition, it features forged carbon wheels, a titanium M exhaust, carbon winglets and carbon fuel tank covers.

These changes help reduce its kerb weight to 196kg with a full fuel tank. Moreover, the 'RS' name stands for 'Rennsport', which means Racing Sport. This name reflects the motorcycle's focus on performance and track riding.

Power comes from the familiar 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine. However, BMW has added an M Performance titanium exhaust and a high-RPM ECU map from the M 1000 RR. As a result, the engine produces 218bhp, while the North American version makes 205bhp.

This is 12bhp more than the standard M 1000 R. Combined with its lower weight and sportier footpeg position, the extra power should make the motorcycle more suitable for track sessions.

Suspension, Brakes and Rider Features

The BMW M 1000 RS uses electronically controlled, fully adjustable suspension at both ends. It gets a 45mm upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock.

For braking, BMW has added 320mm front discs with four-piston radial calipers. The rear gets a 220mm disc with a single-piston floating caliper. Furthermore, the motorcycle carries several electronic features from the M 1000 R, including Dynamic Traction Control, Wheelie Control, cruise control, multiple riding modes and a bi-directional quickshifter.
