Bajaj-Triumph Set to Sell 40,000-50,000 Mid-Size Motorcycles Globally By FY24

Bajaj-Triumph collaborated bike - Triumph Speed 400, which is priced competitively, has gained nearly 2,500 bookings in just a few hours. 

In the next financial year, Bajaj-Triumph plans to manufacture and sell roughly 45,000-50,000 units of its highly anticipated mid-size range motorcycles - Triumph 400 & Triumph 400 Scrambler. The companies decided to launch them at a highly competitive pricing starting at Rs 2.23 lakh exclusively for the first 1,000 customers. Till now, the company has gotten over 2,500 bookings for its Speed 400X, soon after the price announcement.

During a recent launch event, Rakesh Sharma, the Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, spoke to journalists about the company's plans. He mentioned that Bajaj Auto has set a target to produce 5000 units of a particular model every month. Mr Sharma expressed his belief that they will be able to utilise this production capacity fully. He also mentioned that if the demand continues at the current pace, there may be a waiting period of 2-3 months for customers interested in purchasing the model.

"There is a very strong response to the model and there have been numerous calls from dealers around the country - enquiring of availability and delivery. We will start with 5000 units a month and based on the demand, if needed we can ramp it up further,” said Sharma.

Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant will produce the new model of KTM and Triumph models. The plant currently has a capacity of 25,000 units per month, which will be shared among these models. Initially, 5,000 units have been allocated to Triumph bikes, but the company assured that they can increase the production if there is high demand.

The new mid-size bikes will be sold through Triumph dealerships across the country. By the end of this month, the model will be available for sale in 30 locations. The company plans to expand this to 80 cities and 120 showrooms by March 2024.

In addition to the recently launched Speed 400, Triumph also showcased the Scrambler 400, which is scheduled to be launched in October. With the production of both models and supply to overseas markets by the end of the year, the total output could exceed 50,000 units.

Triumph Motorcycles aims to sell more than 15,000 units in global markets (excluding India) this year. The bike will be available in the US, UK, Japan, South America, and Southeast Asia.
