Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter to Increase its Range by 20%

According to a recently published document, Bajaj will be increasing its Chetak range by 20%. According to an official circular, the claimed Indian Driving Conditions (IDC) range of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will rise to 108 kilometres from 90 km on the existing scooter.

When compared to its rivals, the Chetak has one of the lesser range numbers and is also more expensive, which puts it at a disadvantage. The Chetak now boasts an IDC range of 90 kilometres, but the new homologation document calls for an increase to 108 kilometres. This constitutes a 20% rise and ought to finally put it on an even keel in relation to its rivals.

The revised model’s battery capacity and power output are shown in the paper to be the same as those of the existing Chetak, suggesting that Bajaj likely played around with the Battery Management Software to attain this higher number while maintaining the specifications.

Of the four domestically produced major electric two-wheeler OEMs, the Chetak electric scooter is Bajaj’s lone entry into the electric scooter market and currently has the lowest sales figures. It is the only metal-bodied e-scooter in the group, and its retro styling is modelled after the vintage Bajaj Chetak scooter, which was powered by gasoline. It’s unclear at this time whether the price of the Chetak will grow as the variety of the product expands. At this time, the Chetak electric scooter costs Rs. 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi, excluding all subsidies).
