The electric scooter market in India is getting more exciting, especially in the premium affordable segment. Bajaj has just introduced the Chetak C2501 at a price of Rs 91,399, placing it directly against the TVS Orbiter, which is priced at Rs 1,04,900 (ex-showroom). Both scooters are designed for urban riders, and both promise modern features. However, their approach to technology, comfort, and practicality is quite different.

Design and Digital Experience

Both the Bajaj Chetak C2501 and TVS Orbiter come with a colour LCD instrument console and Bluetooth connectivity. This means riders get a modern dashboard experience on both scooters. However, the TVS Orbiter offers a more connected ride.

It includes turn-by-turn navigation, geo-fencing, crash alerts, vehicle health updates, and even over-the-air software updates. In addition, it also comes with cruise control, which is rare in this segment.

On the other hand, the Chetak C2501 keeps things simple. It offers call alerts and music controls through an optional TecPac add-on priced at Rs 3,000. While it does not get navigation or advanced app features, the display shows all key riding details clearly.

Safety and Everyday Practicality

When it comes to safety, neither scooter offers ABS. However, the TVS Orbiter gets a Combined Braking System, even though it uses drum brakes at both ends. Meanwhile, the Bajaj Chetak C2501 comes with a front disc brake.

Both scooters feature hill-hold assist, reverse mode, and a USB charging port positioned on the front apron. Thus, daily city riding is easier with either option.

In terms of storage, the lead is taken by Orbiter. It gets a bigger underseat compartment of 34 litres than the 25-litre space in the Chetak. There’s also an extra space that can definitely come in handy to carry helmets or daily accessories for its riders.

Range, Speed, and Who Should Buy What

The Bajaj Chetak C2501 uses a 2.5kWh battery that delivers a claimed range of 113km and a top speed of 55kmph. It is best suited for short city commutes and riders who want solid build quality with essential features. However, longer trips may feel limiting.

The TVS Orbiter, in comparison, gets a larger 3.1kWh battery with a claimed range of 158km and a top speed of 68kmph. Therefore, it fits buyers who travel longer distances or need brief highway use.
