Ather Energy has achieved a major milestone with the strong success of the Ather Rizta in India. The electric scooter has now crossed the three lakh sales mark since its launch. Ather launched the Rizta in April 2024 as a practical family-focused electric scooter. Deliveries officially started in July 2024 across different Indian cities.

According to company data, Ather dispatched 3,09,501 units of the Rizta scooters until April 2026. Interestingly, the scooter reached one lakh sales within just ten months. The second lakh sales milestone arrived in October 2025. However, the next one lakh dispatches took only six months, showing rising customer demand.

Perhaps, this rapid growth reflects increasing acceptance of electric scooters among Indian families. Buyers now look for comfort, practicality, and lower running costs together.

Comfortable Design & Smart Features Help Rizta Grow Quickly

The Rizta is designed with a greater emphasis on family comfort and everyday use, compared to sporty electric scooter. The scooter also features a large seat and spacious floorboard for everyday use. Another popular feature is the scooter's stylish design and comfortable riding position. Moreover, Ather created Rizta primarily to be utilised for the city commute and family use.

The Ather scooter also receives some of the most useful connected tech features and smart riding modes. What's more, the digital display offers navigation, ride info and smartphone connectivity features. Ather also enhanced the affordability of its scooter by offering its Battery-as-a-Service program. With this model, Rizta S variant begins at Rs. 76,000 (ex-showroom).

Rizta Now Contributes Majority of Ather’s Overall Sales

The Rizta has now become Ather Energy’s bestselling electric scooter in India. In fact, the model currently contributes more than three-fourths of the company’s total sales.

During FY2026, the Rizta accounted for nearly 76% of Ather’s total dispatches. Therefore, the scooter played a major role in strengthening the company’s market position.

Due to this growth, Ather became India’s third-largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer. The company now stands behind only TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto in the segment.

The Indian electric scooter market continues growing rapidly with rising fuel prices and better charging infrastructure. However, competition has also increased sharply in recent years.

Ather Plans New Factory and Future EV Expansion

Ather Energy is now looking to expand its product line and production on the back of this. The company is also working on its new EL platform for future EV applications. In addition, Ather will build a new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The new plant will be capable of producing one million units per year.

Maybe that growth will boost the company's ability to satisfy demand in the future. It can also facilitate quicker deployments of new e-scooters and e-motorcycles. The success of the Rizta definitely points to changing preferences of buyers in India. Today, families are looking for electric scooters that offer a balance of comfort, convenience, and low running costs.
