Ather Energy has announced a new strategic partnership with Ecofy Finance to expand financing support for electric two-wheeler buyers. Ecofy is a green-focused non-banking financial company backed by Eversource Capital. Through this tie-up, both companies aim to make electric scooter ownership easier and more affordable for customers across India.
Under this agreement, Ecofy plans to deploy Rs 100 crore to fund customer loans. This financial support will cover buyers across Ather’s electric scooter ecosystem. In addition, the partnership focuses on improving access to green financing.
Electric scooters often carry a higher upfront cost compared to petrol models. However, easier loan options and flexible repayment plans can reduce this gap. Perhaps this move will encourage more customers to switch to electric mobility sooner.
As part of the partnership, Ecofy will offer several financing solutions to Ather customers. These include vehicle loans, leasing options, assured buyback structures, and Battery-as-a-Service models. In addition, such options allow buyers to choose plans that suit their budget and usage needs.
Battery-as-a-Service can lower the initial purchase cost, which may attract price-sensitive customers. On the other hand, leasing options provide flexibility for urban users who prefer short-term ownership. Therefore, customers gain more control over how they finance their EV purchase.
Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said, “Financing is an important consideration in the two-wheeler purchase journey, particularly for customers exploring EVs for the first time... This partnership with Ecofy further broadens the range of financing options available to customers looking to buy an Ather, making the purchase and ownership journey easier to navigate.”
Rajashree Nambiar, Co-founder, MD & CEO at Ecofy, said, “Our partnership with Ather Energy brings together strong product offerings and specialized green finance, helping customers adopt EVs with greater confidence, affordability, and flexibility.”
