Ather 450X Gets Infinite Cruise via OTA Update: Aiming to Ease City Riding

Published at January 8, 2026 | By BikeJunction

Ather Energy has launched a major software update for the 450X electric scooter. The new feature, called Infinite Cruise, arrives through an over-the-air update and puts the focus on making daily city rides smoother and less tiring.

Ather has, in fact, also promised that this update will be provided to several existing owners for free as well. The current prices of Ather 450X range from Rs 1.48 lakh to Rs 1.59 lakh ex-showroom. Let's know more about this scooter and its features.

Infinite Cruise was first shown on the Ather 450 Apex in August 2025. Now, however, the company has extended it to the 450X as a standard feature. Riders will get a notification directly on the scooter’s dashboard when the update is ready to install.

Unlike regular cruise control, which mostly works on highways, Infinite Cruise is designed for Indian city roads. Scooters often face traffic, speed changes, and uneven surfaces, and Ather says this system is built to handle exactly that.

How Infinite Cruise Works in Daily Traffic

The main variation comes when the rider applies the brakes or accelerates. In a conventional cruise control system, the cruise control turns off and has to be reactivated. However, in an Infinite Cruise Control System, it remains activated. It simply recalibrates itself to the new speed. The continuous use of the throttle is minimized when using the Infinite Cruise Control System.

The system can operate from a speed of 10 kmph to 90 kmph. Therefore, commuters will have a convenient way of commuting without constantly using the throttle.

Three Smart Features Working Together

Infinite Cruise combines three helpful functions that work together smoothly:

  • CityCruise adjusts speed based on changing traffic flow
  • Hill Control maintains a steady pace on slopes using regenerative braking
  • Crawl Control supports slow and stable movement on rough or crowded roads

In addition, these features work alongside Ather’s Multimode Traction Control, which helps maintain grip on wet or slippery surfaces. However, the focus remains on comfort and control rather than high-speed cruising.

OTA Update for Existing Owners

Ather has also confirmed that over 44,000 Ather 450X owners who bought their scooters from January 1, 2025, will receive Infinite Cruise through an OTA update, provided their scooters have the required hardware. This move highlights Ather’s long-term planning and software-first approach.
