Kawasaki has pulled back the curtain on the 2026 Z900RS. It still wears the styling that recalls the legendary Z1, but it now brings in a load of modern upgrades. The bike retains its familiar teardrop fuel tank and retro lines. In addition, it now comes with new technology that makes the ride sharper and safer.

It has a 948 cc inline-four engine. Kawasaki has added ride-by-wire and new gearing for smoother low-end and sharper performance. The engine now makes 116 hp and 98 Nm, which offers more power and refinement. Moreover, there’s a new megaphone-style exhaust with reshaped headers that delivers a richer sound without being loud.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade is the electronics. The 2026 Z900RS now includes a six-axis IMU, which supports the Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF), enabling cornering ABS, traction control, and lean-angle sensing. In addition, cruise control and a bi-directional quickshifter are now standard features that elevate the bike’s usability for both highway cruising and spirited rides.
To match the new powertrain and electronics, the chassis and suspension have also been tuned. There’s also a 41 mm upside-down fork up front and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock that now serves the bike’s sporty yet comfortable nature.
On the premium “SE” variant, riders get Brembo calipers, steel-braided brake lines, and an Öhlins rear shock, which makes it even more performance-oriented. Also, the Z900RS offers a standard seat height of 835 mm, with a lower 810 mm option for shorter riders, a small but important move to broaden the appeal.
While the tech and performance are modern, the styling stays true to the Z1 legacy. The retro design includes the round LED headlamp, analogue-style twin dials with a small digital display, and the teardrop tank. In addition, new colour schemes like Candy Tone Red, Black Ball Edition, and Metallic Spark Black for the SE variant bring fresh visual appeal.
