2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS200, NS160 Deliveries Started in India

Bajaj Pulsar started to deliver its newly launched bikes, NS200 and NS160, in the Indian market. The motorcycles launched in March 2023. The Bajaj Pulsar brand is among the most prominent brands in the Indian two-wheeler market. They have been the most demanding motorcycle for many young Indians. The NS Pulsar series was another brand release that attracted many enthusiasts. Even the NS160 model has been given a makeover more substantial than the NS200. 

Design

It was expected Bajaj would supply new NS bikes with turn indicators and LED headlamps, but that is different. Instead, you still get the halogen setup, making the motorcycle look a bit dated. However, despite not many major changes to the NS bike's design, they still look impressive if you leave aside the light assembly. The powerful tank, bold panel design and overall proportions keep the streetfighter appeal alive.

Bajaj has kept the semi-digital instrument cluster from the previous model but has updated it so that the digital display now houses the gear position indicator and distance to empty (DTE) reading. These are nice additions that can provide the rider with more information.

Specifications

The 160.3cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine from the 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is still present and continues to produce 17 hp of maximum power at 9,000 rpm with a peak torque of 14.6 Nm at 7,250 rpm. The 199cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve, and three-spark plug motor is still present in the NS200. This engine is coupled with a six-speed gearbox with a maximum power of 24.1 bhp at 9,750 rpm and a peak torque of 18.7 Nm at 8000 rpm.

Braking

Both the Pulsars also get dual-channel ABS which is now standard equipment. While the rev-happy engine can propel you to high speeds, the dual-channel ABS will ensure your stops are safe and stable. The front ABS response was not very aggressive, while the rear brake could have been dialed back a bit. The NS160 gets another upgrade in the form of a larger 300mm disc brake at the front, similar to the NS200. 

We noticed that the feel of the front brake lever is different on both bikes. On the NS200, the brakes bite into discs as soon as you push the lever down, even slightly. However, on the NS160, the response is much more gradual. The actuation point of the lever is far back on the NS160

Price Range

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is priced at Rs. 1,47,347 (ex-showroom), while Pulsar NS160 is priced at Rs. 1,34,657 (ex-showroom). If you were one among the people who spent more money on the larger Pulsar NS200, we imagine you won't be very pleased to see others riding a similar-looking, less expensive NS160.
