Kolkata, 18 September 2026: Ultraviolette has introduced a new X-47 Skyforce variant for police operations and supplied 183 motorcycles to the Kolkata Police. The company announced the induction at the Lalbazar Police Headquarters in Kolkata. This marks one of the largest electric motorcycle deployments introduced by an Indian police force.
In addition, Ultraviolette says it is the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer by scale to have its motorcycles inducted into the Kolkata Police fleet. The new X-47 Skyforce works as a dedicated patrol motorcycle and comes with equipment and features designed for daily police duties.
The X-47 Crossover Skyforce uses the crossover design of the standard X-47 and comes with multi-terrain capability. It produces 36 HP of power and has a claimed top speed of 145 km/h. Moreover, the motorcycle offers an IDC range of 211 km on a single charge, which can help officers cover longer distances during regular patrols.
Perhaps the most important change comes from its updated electronic system. Ultraviolette has added an augmented electronic architecture to support police-specific equipment. This setup allows the motorcycle to carry a siren, hooter, public address system, LED blinkers, mic holders, walkie-talkie holders, and side panniers.
This Ultraviolette electric bike has gone through testing before joining the Kolkata Police fleet. Unlike a display-only deployment, these motorcycles will take part in regular policing activities.
The crossover design also helps the motorcycle handle different urban road conditions. In addition, its performance, riding position and range can support officers during extended duty hours. The side panniers provide space for carrying essential equipment, while the added electronic systems help officers use police-duty accessories.
The addition of 183 X-47 Skyforce motorcycles marks a major step towards electric mobility in police operations. Kolkata Police can use the motorcycles for regular patrol duties while also exploring the benefits of electric two-wheelers.
However, the move is not only about reducing emissions. Ultraviolette says electric motorcycles can also help police departments reduce running and maintenance costs over time. Therefore, the shift towards electric mobility can support both environmental and operational needs.

With this deployment, the Ultraviolette X-47 Skyforce takes on a new role as a dedicated police motorcycle. The Kolkata Police fleet will now use these electric motorcycles for day-to-day operations, adding another example of electric mobility entering public service.
