The upcoming Triumph Speed 400 with a smaller 350cc engine has been spotted before its official launch. The brand is preparing to introduce its new 350cc range in India on 6 April 2026. Moreover, recent spy shots reveal key details about the updated motorcycle ahead of launch. The new model keeps the same name, design, & overall look. However, the biggest change comes in the engine department, which may affect its performance and pricing strategy.

Minimal Design Changes Retained

The spotted bike looks almost identical to the current Speed 400 in overall styling and appearance. Moreover, it continues with the same colour options and familiar body design elements. The test model features the Racing Red and Pearl Metallic White shade, which looks unchanged. However, there are no visible updates in body panels, lighting, or badging on the motorcycle.

New 349cc Engine Details

The biggest update comes with the introduction of a new 349cc single cylinder engine on this model. Moreover, this engine carries ‘TR Series’ badging, which indicates a new platform for smaller displacement bikes. However, the power output is expected to be slightly lower than the current 398.15cc engine setup.

GST Impact Behind Engine Downsizing

Triumph Speed 400 350cc Price

Manufacturers are reducing engine sizes to benefit from the revised GST structure under GST 2.0 rules. Therefore, bikes above 350cc now attract 40% tax instead of the earlier 31%. However, engines under 350cc fall under an 18 percent tax bracket, making them more cost effective.

Pricing and Market Expectations

Despite the engine downsizing, prices may not change significantly compared to the existing 400cc lineup. However, this move helps brands manage costs better under new taxation policies.

Engine and Specification Overview

The current Speed 400 comes with a 398.15cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine setup producing 39.5 bhp & 37.5 Nm torque. However, the new 349cc engine may offer slightly lower performance figures due to reduced displacement. Moreover, the new setup is expected to maintain smooth riding characteristics for daily and highway usage.
